Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, was on a mission with his best friend James Rhodes, also known as War Machine. They were in a remote location in the Middle East, trying to intercept a shipment of weapons that were being sold to terrorist groups.
It was March 15, the Ides of March, a fact which made Tony have, to quote every one in the Star Wars universe, a bad feeling about the mission. He had always been superstitious to a point, and the fact that they were on a dangerous mission on this particular day made him uneasy.
As they were flying side by side to the mission site, Rhodey couldn't help but notice Tony's uneasiness. He tried to ignore it, not say anything but things reached a point where he had to say something. "Tony, man, what's with you today? You seem... I don't know jittery today,"
"I do?"
"Yeah, you do. So what's up? What's got you so on edge?"
Tony was quiet for a few seconds then said, "It's March 15th."
"Okay, yeah so what."
"So what? It's the Ides of March, that's what! The name Julius Caesar ringing any bells?"
Now it was Rhodey's turn to be quiet before he said, "Okay so Julius Caesar was assassinated on March 15. What does that have to do with either you or me?"
"Only that today is one of bad luck and bad things happen on this day. I mean Julius Caesar was told he would die on March 15th, and I'm sure after he laughed it off, that was exactly what happened to him!"
"Oh my... Tony, you do realize that the only source we have for Julius Caesar's death being foretold to him by a soothsayer is one of Shakespeare's plays, right?" Rhodey asked with a laugh. "It's just a superstition invented by someone who read that play too many times or was taking Shakespeare too seriously! There's nothing to worry about today, Tones!"
"I hope you're right about that, Platypus!"
"I know I am, you'll see!"
As it turned out, Rhodey was right and their mission went off without a hitch.
"See, I told you it was only a silly superstition!" he laughed as they flew back home.
